New Google Sidebar Features

Google has released a new version of it's desktop search application. It works as well as the old version and the only changes that I can see were made in the sidebar design. Instead of being one solid color, it is not transparent in between the gadgets. This way you can see your desktop wallpaper through the gaps. It's a pretty neat new feature and makes it look more like the sidebar which will come with Windows Vista when it is released.

Here is a screenshot I borrowed off of the google desktop website:

Google Desktop Sidebar
Sorry that I don't have a screenshot of what it looked like before. Just imagine all of the sidebar totally white with no images by the titles.

Overall it's a good change I would recommend you download it.

Part of the desktop part is that it will index your hard drive and you can search for things faster then if you used the real windows search in the operating system. I use it occasionally. There is no way to disable it but you can have it so that it indexes hardly anything at all.
